Sometimes
you get a second chance.
After
22 years of self imposed exile, Jane Eamon
returned to the craft of songwriting with a
vengeance.
Starting
with acceptance in the prestigious BC Festival
of the Arts, Jane has pursued the craft of
writing with a relentless single mindedness. In
addition to her prolific song output and two
critically acclaimed CD's in just under 4 years,
this passion has driven her to start a monthly
critiquing circle, write songwriting columns,
host open mics, perform her own gigs and co-host
a popular Songwriters in the Round showcase
featuring local writers.

She has won awards for her
songs and received honourable mention from the Billboard World Song
Contest, an honour award from the Great American Song
contest, one from American Songwriter magazine for her lyrics and recently, garnered a spot on the Dig Your Roots compilation CD featuring emerging roots artists from across Canada and on a worldwide CD, "Protest Songs for a Better World". She has shared the stage with such greats as Roy Forbes, Stephen Fearing, Bill Henderson, and James Keelaghan and participated in Bluebird North, Canada's show and tell for songwriters. Most recently she received three local music awards for Female Performer, Folk Artist and Socan sponsored Songwriter of the year.
With long time partner, Gord Brush, she released a debut CD,
The Blue Madonna in 2002. Comprised of 10 original songs, the CD received critical acclaim both here in Canada and the United States. The title track, the
Blue Madonna held the #1 spot on the folk charts at mp3.com in Australia for 5 months and was aired on over 120 radio stations across North America.
In November 2004, Jane released her first solo CD,
a different place. Produced by Andrew Smith of Smith, Funk and Strauss,
a different place features 11 original tunes ranging from gospel and blues to jazz and heartfelt singer/songwriter. Songs from the CD have been featured on several radio shows, and the CD continues to be in the top 100 albums as voted by the Folk DJ's. Some of the songs have also placed in the top ten for acoustic blues and gospel on several Internet radio stations. The CD has been described
as, "a disc you can't resist playing over and over again. a different place is an album, without a doubt one of the best to come out of the Valley in the past decade."
Jane is currently writing for CD #3 and will be producing a mini Blues CD in the fall as a side project. It seems as though there's no stopping her now. Folks who've caught Jane are always impressed with the energy and passion she brings to her music. Jane delights in sharing her inspirations and stories often with humour. It's never boring and always unpredictable. Audiences leave feeling like they've spent an evening with old friends.
