We’ve been through a lot
You and me, that’s for certain
Both of us had expectations to fill
But sometimes the doing
Outdoes the pretending
And anything left is just tired and still
So I hit the road
With my boot heels burning
Leaving you there with all you could say
Make no mistake this is not about winning
It’s more just the going
And a price that I’ll pay
So think of me fondly
Whenever you’re thinking
I can’t help my wandering
It’s what I do best
Remember the good times
Hold them forever
Let time take care of the rest
Well I guess you can tell
That I’m not a great writer
My letters to you
Have been spotty at best
And I gather you know
I’m no longer in Kansas
That ship had set sail
The last time that we met
Part of the travelling
Is leaving behind things
Didn’t say it was easy
Never is kind
A lot has been happening
Since the last time I saw you
I haven’t had time
To give you a call
And it’s true what they say
About too little hours
With too much to do
Don’t do nothing at all
Think of me fondly…
